42-goal Arsenal hero linked with shock £69m exit to join Serie A giants

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is reportedly the subject of a £69m bid from Inter, as the Italian side look to take advantage of his uncertain future.

Despite having two years remaining on his current deal with the Gunners, the Chilean international has yet to agree to terms on a new long-term deal.

In turn, it has led to questions marks over his future as little progress is seemingly be made, despite the fact that Arsene Wenger has insisted that there should be no concern over the situation.

Don Balon claim that new Inter boss Frank de Boer has singled out Sanchez as one of his top targets ahead of the deadline, but despite a takeover of the club, it’s unclear as to where the Nerazzurri are expected to find the money given that they are still limited in their spending this summer.

While it’s unlikely that the deal will happen, it does raise alarm bells for Arsenal as if they are unable to match Sanchez’s ambition moving forward and results don’t go their way this season, they will be under pressure when it comes to contract talks with their top players.

Wenger’s side fell to a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League opener at the weekend, and with little transfer activity so far this summer, he is coming under further scrutiny to act and bolster his squad.

The report adds that Sanchez would be open to a return to Italy after previously playing for Udinese in Serie A, but ultimately there are too many doubts over whether or not Inter would be able to afford both the transfer fee and his wages, as well as the fact that if they keep hold of Mauro Icardi, they have several options in attack already.

Sanchez has scored 42 goals in all competitions in his first two seasons in north London, and he will undoubtedly be desperate to add to that tally in the coming weeks and help Aresnal overcome their disappointing start.
