Chelsea boss Conte steps up to Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho’s challenge

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes that he can win his fourth consecutive league title this season.

United boss Jose Mourinho claimed on Friday that rival managers lacked the courage to name the teams they coach as being title favourites.

Conte revealed he is not afraid to put Chelsea among his favourites to win the Premier League title but feels there could be up to eight teams in the title race.

The Italian manager won the Serie A three years in a row with Juventus prior to being appointed Blues boss this summer.

The experienced manager won a total of five trophies during his stint in charge of the Italian giants and wants to replicate his success in England.

“I think that in this league it’s very tough, and I think that at the moment six, seven, eight teams can fight to win the title,” Conte was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“And I’m sure Chelsea is a good team and we must work very hard to be in the six, seven teams that fight for the title.”

The last time Chelsea won the league was back in 2015 under the stewardship of club hero Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager has however, now taken charge of Manchester United and won his first Premier League game in charge beating Bournemouth 2-1.

The Blues take on rivals West Ham in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge in the London derby.
