Arsenal have suffered another blow to their hopes of signing a star defender after Valencia refused to negotiate Shkodran Mustafi’s transfer fee according to The Mirror.

Per-the-source, the La Liga giants have insisted that they will not negotiating with any club for Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi.

Arsenal were forced to start their opening game of the Premier League season against Liverpool with with rookie Rob Holding alongside Calum Chambers in defence. The Gunners ended up conceding four goals at home and losing to Liverpool.

The Sun states that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made the signing of Mustafi a priority.

The French tactician is currently facing a crisis in defence following an injury to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel. Both have been ruled out for Arsenal’s clash with Leicester this weekend.

Mustafi provided two assists and scored two goals in 44 appearances for Valencia last season. The 24-year-old was also included in Joachim Low’s Germany squad which competed at Euro 2016 earlier this summer.
