Manchester United are closing in on the Brazilian wonder-kid Gabriel Barbosa according to a report in The Sun.

Per-the-source, the Red Devils are readying a £30 million offer for the 19-year-old striker in a bid to scare off interest from rival clubs. The Sun goes onto state that United are in pole position to sign Barbosa this season and are aiming to finalise the deal within 48 hours.

Should Jose Mourinho’s side complete the signing of Barbosa, he would become their fifth signing of the summer following Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.

Gabriel, also known as ‘Gabigol’, scored twice against Denmark at the Olympics to inspire his nation to their first win of the tournament earlier this week.  The 19-year-old has been in impressive form at club level this season having scored five goals in ten appearances in all competitions for Santos this season.

Manchester United take on Southampton in the Premier League this weekend as they look to build upon their 3-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
