Arsenal transfer news: Dortmund join the hunt for star Bundesliga defender

Arsenal are set to face competition from the Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign the Turkey international Omer Toprak from Bayer Leverkusen according to the German outlet Sports Buzzer.

Per-the-source, Toprak is a key target for Dortmund’s this summer however, Bundesliga giants are willing to wait until next season when his €12m buy-out clause will be activated.

Toprak has no shortage of suitors according to the Daily Star. The daily tabloid paper stated back in March that the Turkey international was a top Manchester Untied target. Toprak made 25 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions last season.

Arsenal have been linked with a £14 million move for Toprak over the past week after failing to land Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia. However, the Valencia defender still remains Arsenal’s primary target.

The Guners take on last seasons champions Leicester City in their second game of the Premier League season this weekend.
