Aston Villa eye seventh summer signing as 23-year-old Premier League ace valued at £3m emerges on radar

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a £3m bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin as they continue their search for a right back.

The Championship outfit have been busy in the transfer market this summer as they plot an immediate return to the Premier League.

Roberto Di Matteo has already made six new signings with Mile Jedinak the latest recruit after his move was confirmed from Crystal Palace this week, but he is unlikely to be the last new face arriving at Villa Park ahead of the deadline.

According to The Telegraph, Yedlin has now emerged on Villa’s radar and he is now being considered as an alternative to Leicester City right-back Ritchie De Laet.

With Micah Richards, Alan Hutton and Leandro Bacuna failing to offer the assurances that Di Matteo is seeking, the Italian tactician wants to address that area of his squad and build a new-look backline having already brought in Tommy Elphick and James Chester.

Combined with the arrivals of Jedinak, Pierluigi Gollini, Aaron Tshibola and Ross McCormack, Villa have certainly addressed the need to shake things up at the club this summer and start fresh following a nightmare campaign last year.

The Telegraph add that Patrick Bamford and Nakhi Wells also remain targets with Di Matteo looking to bolster his options up front, while more players are expected to head in the opposite direction too as the cull of the squad continues.

Villa fell to defeat in their first two games of the season, including an embarrassing defeat to Luton Town in the EFL Cup.

If it hadn’t been entirely apparent that big changes were needed prior to that, Di Matteo has certainly acted swiftly to strengthening his squad since, with Villa picking up four points from their last two league games as they travel to Derby County on Saturday evening.
