Chelsea launch £60m record smashing bid to sign Napoli star

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his defensive options for the season ahead according to The Sun.

The report states that Chelsea have tabled a mega £60 million bid for Napoli’s star defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The Italian manager is determined to sign the 25-year-old after Chelsea have already seen a £48 million offer turned down by the Italian side.

Per-the-source, Conte is confident of signing Koulibaly after the club tabled an offer which is too good to refuse.

If the Senegalese defender joins Chelsea he will smash the clubs transfer record which stands at £50 million for Fernando Torres from Liverpool.

Koulibaly was a rock at the heart of a Napoli backline that kept 15 Serie A clean sheets last season.

The Sun goes onto state that Chelsea also haven’t given up hope of signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton. Lukaku scored 18 Premier League goals last season – more than any Chelsea player.
