World renowned Man Utd goalkeeping coach joins Turkish giants

Galatasaray have signed world renowned goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek after recently resigning from his position at Manchester United according to the Haberturk.

Per the source, Lions boss Jan Ole Riekerink is a close friend of Hoek after working with him at Ajax and played an influential role in him joining the Istanbul giants.

Hoek is largely credited with developing the modern goalkeeping revolution that Johan Cruyff implemented at Ajax and then Barcelona.

The goalkeeping coach was recruited by Cruyff during this time in Ajax and he trained Stanley Menzo how to keep better possession of the ball, act as a sweeper and pass the ball out of defence.

The Dutch coach will be replacing Brazilian legend Claudio Taffarel at the Istanbul giants after he recently parted ways after a 10 year stint at the club.

Following Louis van Gaal’s dismissal at United his backroom team of Hoek, Albert Stuivenberg (assistant coach) and Max Reckers (performance analyst) also parted ways with the club.

The Dutch coach previously worked alongside van Gaal during his time in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Hoek was the third to work with United keeper David de Gea in the last three years and will now coach Uruguayan international Fernando Muslera.
