Liverpool supporters were left far from impressed on Twitter on Friday night after former hero Michael Owen tipped rivals Manchester United for the Premier League title.
The 36-year-old is an ambassador for Liverpool and spent many successful years at the club as a player, but he continues to rile his former fans with his comments.
The latest of which came after United’s win over Southampton on Friday night, as he took to Twitter and had this to say about the Premier League title race.
It looked good on paper and it looks good on grass too. Pogba class. The Premier League title is heading to the North West this season.

On one hand, perhaps the former England international should be commended for his honesty as having now moved into punditry, he’s ultimately paid to give his opinion and share his thoughts on debates such as this.
However, that hasn’t been enough to prevent him from facing a backlash from Liverpool supporters, who are far from impressed with his affection for their biggest rivals despite the fact that he still holds a position within the club.
Publicly declaring that you back the club’s fiercest and oldest rivals probably isn’t the best way to try and repair the damage done to the relationship and endear him to Liverpool supporters.
In turn, perhaps Owen would be well advised to avoid sparking a similar issue in future, or if he prefers his punditry role which gives him the freedom to offer his insight and opinion, then perhaps staying in an ambassadorial role for Liverpool is the smartest move.
