Aston Villa expect to complete two new signings this week as Roberto Di Matteo rebuild shows no sign of slowing down

Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has revealed that the club’s transfer business for the summer is far from over as two more signings are expected this week.

The Championship outfit have already signed six players since being relegated, with Pierluigi Gollini, Tommy Elphick, James Chester, Aaron Tshibola, Mile Jedinak and Ross McCormack joining the Roberto Di Matteo revolution.

It’s been a mixed start to the campaign as they have taken five points from four games with one win, two draws and one defeat to show for their efforts so far, but there is certainly progress since their miserable season in the Premier League last year.

However, as Di Matteo’s ideas continue to get across coupled with the growing influence of the new faces at the club, there is an air of optimism at the club.

Xia, who is never afraid from sharing information with supporters on Twitter, has now revealed that they are working hard to bring in a striker and a full back.

Speculation has linked various individuals with a move to Villa Park ahead of the deadline, but again, it’s crucial for supporters to know what the club is planning.

In this case, it’s particularly reassuring as ultimately Villa still need to address the right-back position, and have to bring in an alternative to Rudy Gestede up front to fire them up the Championship table and give Di Matteo a reliable source for goals.

Should Xia and Di Matteo get these next two moves right, then it could lead to a successful season for the club, but time will tell as to whether or not they will successfully gel and produce the results expected of them.
