Liverpool transfer news: Serie A outfit reject chance to sign Reds misfit as options running out

Mario Balotelli’s summer goes from bad to worse as Serie A side Sassuolo have turned down the opportunity to sign the Liverpool striker, according to Goal.

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has revealed that his club was offered Balotelli by his agent Mino Raiola but that they refused to sign the out-of-favour forward.

“Mino Raiola offered us Balotelli, but we refused,” Carnevali told RaiSport’s Zona11pm show.

The Italian striker has been instructed to find a new club by head coach Jurgen Klopp and banished to train with the reserves until he leaves.

Besiktas were also closely linked with the Italian international but head coach Senol Gunes criticised the Liverpool striker when asked if he was interested in signing Balotelli.

“Balotelli isn’t in my plans either. I don’t have a favourable view of Mario Balotelli. I have never expressed a positive insight on him,” Gunes told FourFourTwo.

The report goes on to state that Balotelli has also attracted interest from Dutch giants Ajax and Serie A outfit Napoli.

Besiktas are on the lookout for a new striker after last seasons top scorer Mario Gomez left the club after a successful loan spell last season.

Balotelli spent last season on loan at AC Milan where he scored just one league goal all season, and now, not for the first time, he faces an uncertain future as time and options are running out for him to find a new club before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.
