Turkish champions in talks with Liverpool defender who was a first team regular last season

Mamadou Sakho could be on his way out of Liverpool after Besiktas opened talks with the Reds for the France international.

A source close to the Turkish club have revealed to Caught-Offside’s Eren Sarigul that Besiktas have tabled a loan bid for the France international.

Per-the-source, Besiktas President Fikret Orman is currently in England working on the transfer.

The Merseyside club have given Sakho the green light to leave Liverpool on a season-long loan following a dispute with head coach Jurgen Klopp.

The 26-year-old was late for a team flight from Liverpool to California last month and also turned up for a team meal late after missing a treatment session for his injury.

Besiktas would be able to offer Sakho the prospect of Champions League football and a realistic chance of silverware this season if he were to make the move.

Liverpool travel to London this weekend to take on Tottenham in their third Premier League game of the season. Sakho made 22 Premier League appearances for the Reds last season.
