Aston Villa could secure two more new signings by Sunday as mercurial English ace linked with move

Aston Villa’s busy summer of transfer dealings is far from over as owner Tony Xia has suggested that a double swoop could be on the way.

The Championship outfit have already signed seven new players this summer, with Pierluigi Gollini, Tommy Elphick, James Chester, Ritchie De Laet, Aaron Tshibola, Mile Jedinak and Ross McCormack all joining Roberto Di Matteo’s squad.

However, it doesn’t seem as though the management are entirely content with the group as a whole just yet, with a striker and attacking midfielder still on their radar, based on this tweet from Xia on Friday.

Villa supporters will be delighted with the fact that not only is their owner continuing his transparent and refreshing approach to communicating with them, but also that along with the coaching staff, they continue to correctly identify weaknesses in the squad and address them.

Following up on his previous tweet, Xia updated his followers on Saturday by suggesting that a deal for the attacking midfielder is almost complete, although time will tell as to whether or not their preferred striker arrives before the deadline.

Meanwhile, in Italy, Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi revealed that former Manchester United starlet Ravel Morrison is on the market and is looking for a new club ahead of the deadline.

While that may well just be a mere coincidence, this isn’t the first time that the 23-year-old attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to Villa Park this summer, as noted by Football Italia, and he seemingly fits the bill in terms of what the club are looking for and are close to signing.

After such a disastrous and disappointing campaign last year, the changes at Villa this summer has created a renewed sense of optimism at the club. If the last two deals are wrapped up, Xia would have done his part, and in turn the pressure will now be on Di Matteo to ensure that it results in immediate promotion.
