Liverpool transfer news: £15m teen in for medical, Reds wait for American, 3 Prem teams stupid enough to want Balotelli

With less than a week to go before the summer window closes, the internet is awash with Liverpool transfer news.

For starters, the Daily Star are reporting that Liverpool lead a £15m race to sign 19-year-old Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Ante Coric.

Per the Star late Saturday night, senior Croatia international Coric is due in Liverpool for a medical within the next 48 hours.

Another teenager to be linked with a move to Anfield is American Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic, 17.

The Reds had bid £11m for Pulisic, according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim that Dortmund are unwilling to sell right now, meaning that Jurgen Klopp and Co. will wait until next summer before trying again to bring him to Merseyside.

In terms of possible outgoings, reports on the continent suggest that three Premier League clubs are interested in taking Mario Balotelli off Liverpool’s hands.

Italian publication Gazzetta World say that Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace are all keen on the 26-year-old flop, whose €6m-a-season salary could be too much for Serie A side Palermo, who are in talks with the player.

No doubt fans of the three aforementioned Premier League clubs will be praying that Balotelli does not sign for their team.

Years of Balotelli’s non-footballing antics have gained him a lot of attention, which has built up hype. And that hype creates the illusion that he is a top player.

However, he’s not. Sure, he’s far from awful, but his goal record over nine seasons in senior football is pretty forgettable.

Balotelli has reached double figures in the league in just three of those nine seasons, while his best ever return is only 14.
