Busy transfer day for Tottenham as €600,000 loan deal agreed while 25-goal ace departs in £13m deal

Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their transfer activity ahead of Wednesday’s deadline with incoming and outgoings on Monday.

As confirmed by BBC Sport, midfielder Nacer Chadli has secured a move to West Bromwich Albion in a deal reportedly worth £13m.

It brings an end to the Belgian international’s stay at White Hart Lane, having scored 25 goals in 119 appearances for the club since his arrival from FC Twente in 2013.

While he will now look to make a significant impact at the Hawthorns, Mauricio Pochettino could use that fee to fund his own moves between now and the transfer deadline.

The Argentine tactician has only made two signings this summer, with Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama arriving in north London.

However, he could be on the verge of adding a goalkeeper to his squad, with Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague revealing that Spurs have agreed to pay €600,000 to Espanyol to take shot-stopper Pau Lopez on a season-long loan.

“A loan deal worth €600,000 has been agreed. He has got to decide whether he wants to make the step. Espanyol expect that he will.”

Time will tell as to whether or not the deal gets over the line before Wednesday, but with Hugo Lloris out with injury, it’s clear that Pochettino is keen to add some depth behind Michel Vorm.

It’s been a quiet summer overall for Spurs, and with the addition of Champions League football to their schedule this year, they may well be wise to add a few more players that bring quality to the squad in order to allow their manager to rotate with confidence.
