Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has set his sights on the Netherlands international defender Stefan de Vrij according to The Sun.
The daily tabloid newspaper states that the Blues are keen to add reinforcements to their defence before the end of the transfer window.
Per-the-source Conte has been desperate to land a defender but has had a bid for Kalidou Koulibaly rejected by Napoli and an offer for Alessio Romagnoli turned down by AC Milan.
Sportitalia (via The Sun) state that De Vrij is the next player on Chelsea’s transfer shortlist for the summer. The 24-year-old has 30 caps for the Netherlands national team.
The report goes onto say that Conte wants the deal wrapped up as soon as possible with the transfer window slamming shut on Wednesday.
Chelsea have gotten off to a positive start to their Premier League season following three wins in three games. The Blues take on Swansea City in their next league fixture.
