Impressive stat shows Arsene Wenger haters could be silenced with Arsenal’s latest signing

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna as Arsene Wenger could have addressed his attacking issues.

The Spanish forward has joined in a deal worth £17.1m according to BBC Sport, and arrives off the back of scoring 17 goals in 37 games for his former club last season.

Whether or not the 27-year-0ld is the man to score the goals and make the difference in the final third for the Gunners remains to be seen, but one statistic in particular suggests that Wenger has landed a player in top form.

Since August 2015, Perez has been involved in more goals than any other Spaniard in La Liga with 27, and so he’ll hope to take that influential play to the Emirates this season and beyond.

“He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs,” Wenger told the club’s official website. “He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”

With the likes of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott failing to deliver goals consistently enough, Wenger needed to act this summer and bring in another attacking option.

While Perez isn’t the high-profile name that many would have been hoping for, if he is able to have the same kind of impact he had at Deportivo last season, then he will undoubtedly be a more than useful addition to the Arsenal squad.
