Chelsea transfer news: £23m man having medical, personal terms already agreed

Chelsea look close to announcing the deadline day signing of Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso.

According to The Guardian last night, the two clubs have settled on a transfer fee of £23m, while personal terms have also been agreed.

It was reported this morning by Sky Sports that Alonso was undergoing a medical at Chelsea’s training ground in Surrey.

Alonso, 25, is no stranger to the Premier League, having turned out for Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland in his youth.

A move to Chelsea is a big step up for the uncapped Spaniard, but he has impressed during the last two seasons in Serie A.

Should Alonso complete his move to Chelsea before tonight’s deadline, he would be available to make his debut when the Blues take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium a week on Sunday.

Chelsea have started life under new manager Antonio Conte in fine form, winning all four matches they have played so far.
