Liverpool ‘transfer rebel’ set to be frozen out by Jurgen Klopp after failing to seal transfer deadline day move

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will reportedly be ‘banished’ from the starting line-up this season after ignoring Jurgen Klopp’s warning about leaving.

The France international is considered by many as the sixth choice at the club, after the failed drugs test at the end of last season and a falling out with Klopp during their pre-season tour in the USA.

According to The Mirror, Sakho was told to find a new club ahead of the deadline to go out and play regularly and prove that he deserves a future at Anfield, but instead, he continued to reject offers.

With the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Besiktas offering him a loan move, Sakho continued to turn down the proposals and will now remain at Liverpool.

It’s claimed that Klopp sees Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez as being ahead of the former PSG star in the pecking order this season, while Lucas Leiva can drop back and provide cover if necessary.

In turn, it’s unlikely that Sakho will see much playing time over the next few months at least, and so his decision to remain and seemingly fight for his place is a strange one having been given a clear indication that he wouldn’t get an opportunity to play.

Sakho’s poor time-keeping and unprofessionalism led to further tension during Liverpool’s US tour this summer, and having been given a chance to escape, Klopp is said to be ‘deeply frustrated’ over his refusal to leave.

Time will tell if Sakho is completely removed from first-term matters, as Klopp has shown with Mario Balotelli, who did heed the warning and seal a move to Nice on deadline day, that he will snub players from his first team in order to get his message across.
