Manchester United face an anxious wait to determine whether or not Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be available for the derby against Manchester City.
The rivals face off on September 10 after the international break concludes, but Jose Mourinho will now have to wait to determine whether or not one of his star summer signings will be available for selection.
Mkhitaryan picked up the injury following a collision with Marek Suchy during Armenia’s friendly with Czech Republic on Wednesday night, as seen in the video below.
The 27-year-old was then replaced as a precaution, although there has yet to be any confirmation as to how serious the knock is and whether or not he’ll miss the qualifier against Denmark at the weekend.
Although the former Borussia Dortmund star hasn’t started for United so far this season, he impressed after being introduced against Hull City last weekend and will hope to have a growing influence on the team and break into the starting line-up before too long.
United will undoubtedly be monitoring his situation closely in the coming days to determine the extent of the issue and whether or not he’ll miss time on his return.
