Crystal Palace eyeing move for former Arsenal man after missing out on Jack Wilshere

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is reportedly considering a move for free agent Mathieu Flamini after missing out on Jack Wilshere.

The 55-year-old made an attempt to sign the England midfielder on loan on deadline day, but saw him choose a switch to Bournemouth instead.

Now, The Guardian claim that he has switched his focus to Flamini, who is looking for a club after being released by Arsenal at the end of last season.

Palace are in need of midfield reinforcements after seeing Mile Jedinak leave the club for Aston Villa earlier this month.

Despite impressing with their business elsewhere which included the signings of Steve Mandanda and Christian Benteke, Pardew evidently still feels as though he can strengthen and would like to bring in the former Arsenal and AC Milan midfield general.

With the transfer window now shut, Pardew’s only option is to look for free agents before January, and it appears as though Flamini may well fit the bill to plug the gap in the coming months.

The 32-year-old made 168 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in total, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in those outings in two separate spells with the club.
