Barcelona superstar Leo Messi has revealed the reason why he decided to dye his hair blonde over the summer.
According to Goal, Messi stated that he decided to take on a new look following Argentina’s disappointing defeat to Chile in the Copa America final. The 29-year-old has now been on the losing side for four consecutive finals with Argentina prompting him to make a drastic change.
“One particularly tough day I dyed my hair, I had to start again from scratch. I said to myself,” Messi told ‘Mingo’ on Telefe’s ‘Polemica en el bar’.
“I have to make a clean break and start over”
Messi also revealed that his sonThiago may decide not to follow in his fathers footsteps after turning his back on the beautiful game at a young age.
“I try not to give Thiago balls as presents, he doesn’t like football much,” Messi said.
“We’ll see if he gets into it now as he’s started playing in a club.”

Messi briefly retired from international football after missing a penalty in the Copa America final but swiftly reversed his decision.
The Argentina international has three assists and three goals in four appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season.
