Chelsea defender John Terry has taken a trip down memory lane and given a special thanks to former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 35-year-old notes in the caption that he met the Scottish tactician when he was 14, as he posed with his parents and the Premier League and FA Cup trophies.

Terry has previously admitted that he grew up as a United fan, but ultimately felt as though Chelsea were the best fit for him.

Since making that decision to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge, he’s gone on to make over 700 appearances for the club and has won countless trophies.

As a result, while he won’t regret the decision not to join United with Ferguson evidently having a major impact on him when trying to sign him as a teenager, he still hasn’t forgotten the way he was treated by the football legend and holds the experience of meeting and talking with him close to his heart.

Naturally, it’s led to plenty of comments about what could have been from United fans who have picked up on the post, but Terry will be pleased with how things turned out in the end.
