Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.
According to the player’s agent Dimitri Seluk – via Sky Sports – the Gunners and the Red Devils have shown interest in the 33-year-old.
However, Sky Sports also quote Seluk as saying that such a deal would be “impossible”
Seluk adds: “Yaya in January can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad. He will have many offers from clubs. China and America of course they want him but we will have a lot of offers from England and Europe.
“He is in very good shape, very good condition, I think he lost seven kilograms.
“Maybe that’s not good enough for [Pep] Guardiola, but then Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t good enough for him (at Barcelona).
In the same interview, Seluk claims that, as a consequence of Guardiola leaving Toure out of his Champions League squad, City could be set to lose millions of supporters in Africa.
Seluk does not say why a move to Arsenal or United would be “impossible” for Toure.
Does he mean Toure would turn down such an offer? Or does he simply mean that Yaya plans to sign a pre-contract agreement in January – six months before his current deal expires?
The latter would make sense, because Toure will only be able to sign a pre-contract deal with a non-English club.
