Nottingham Forrest have completed the signing of former Arsenal cult Nicklas Bendtner according to the BBC.

Per the source, Bendtner has joined the Gunners on a free transfer after leaving Germany club Wolfsburg.

Bendtner will join Forrest on a two-year contract and revealed that he has achieved his goal of returning to England in the process.

The Denmark international told BBC Nottingham Sport: “My main goal was to come back to England.

“What happened in Wolfsburg was a sad situation. I have made mistakes in the past, but I am looking to the future.”

The Denmark international will not however, be returning to the Premier League and will have to hope his side ensure promotion if he wants to return to top flight football.

The Championship outfit take on the Gunners in the EFL Cup in two weeks time and Bendtner will be expected to feature against his former side.

Bendtner scored 47 goals in 171 appearances for the North London based outfit, but after failing to establish himself as their first-choice striker, he moved on in pursuit of success elsewhere.
