Leicester City star set for debut against Liverpool

Leicester City summer signing Islam Slimani could make his debut for the club against Liverpool according to head coach Claudio Ranieri.

Slimani featured in Algeria’s African Nations Cup qualifier win over Lesotho over the international break and will be available for selection against the Reds.

Ranieri was quoted by ESPN as saying: “I haven’t seen him [yet] but I will speak with him. He is available for Saturday, he could play but I want to speak with him, to see him and they we will see.

“Yes [it would be a big call], but he is good. He only has to score goals. He is ready, he played all the matches with Sporting and he is ready to play with us.”

Ranieri will also welcome back goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel but Nampalys Mendy and Jeffrey Schlupp will not be fit for the away game.

Schmeichel was substituted in the second period during the 2-1 victory over Swansea City and had a hernia operation over the international break but has recovered in time for weekend game.

The Foxes have no other additional injury concerns going into the clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Premier League champions will be hoping to build upon their 2-1 win over Swansea City before the international break.

The Foxes are currently in ninth place on four points after their first three games of the season.
