Arsenal’s latest signing Shkodran Mustafi showed leadership characteristics during his first training session with the Gunners according to the Metro.

The Germany international looks set to add some much needed leadership in Arsenal’s backline following the long-term injury to Per Mertesacker during pre-season.

Per-the-source, Mustafi is set to make his Arsenal debut when the Gunners host Southampton at the Emirates stadium on Saturday.

The report also states that the Germany international was ‘barking out orders’ during training yesterday.

Mustafi made the move to Arsenal from Valencia for a £35 million transfer fee according to the BBC. Gunners boss Wenger was keen to sign a defender after both Mertesacker and Gabriel picked up long-term injuries.

The Germany international has also been included in Arsenal’s Champions League squad and is set to start for the north London based club for their clash with PSG next week.

Mustafi was called up to the Germany national team squad along with Mesut Ozil.
