Manchester City summer signing Ilkay Gundogan has failed to make the match-day squad going into the Manchester derby.
Gundogan will not get his debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford after failing to convince head coach Pep Guardiola that he was match ready.
The midfielder dislocated his knee while still at Dortmund – prior to his transfer from the Bundesliga giants.
The injury cost him a place in Joachim Low’s Germany national team squad which competed at Euro 2016 over the summer.
The 25-year-old has recovered from injury and was been declared fit ahead of the derby according to ESPN but Guardiola was not convinced that he was ready to make his comeback just yet.
Gundogan will have to wait at least another week now to make his Premier League debut for the Citizens.
Fellow summer signing and Germany international midfielder Leroy Sane has been included in the match day squad but will not start for the Citizens.
