Manchester United’s summer signing Eric Bailly has heaped praise on his manager Jose Mourinho after being awarded the Manchester United Player of the Month.

The young defender thanked his teammates and his manager, which he says were factors in him winning the award. Bailly goes onto say that he has a good connection with Mourinho.

Bailly played the full 90 minutes during United’s home defeat to Manchester City. The Red Devils slipped three points behind their rivals and a point behind Chelsea following the weekend loss.

“I’d like to thank my team-mates for all the help they gave me,” Bailly told Manchester United’s official website.

“I’m standing here today thanks to them, with the Manchester United Player of the Month award.

“I think it’s precisely the manager’s strategy: there’s a good connection between us. It’s important for the defence and I hope it will go on like this.”

United will need to bounce back fast as they take on Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday evening before traveling to the south of England to take on Watford FC.

Bailly has been a key member of United’s defence since joining from Villarreal over the summer transfer window. The Ivory Coast international has started every game for the Red Devils under Jose Mourinho.
