Arsenal ace demands his salary goes up to £175,000-a-week to renew deal or Gunners risk losing him

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has reportedly made his demands to the club as speculation over his contract negotiations rumbles on.

The Chilean international has two years remaining on his current deal, but it’s been talked about since May that discussions over an extension would be taking place.

His commitments at the Copa America over the summer initially delayed any progress, while the transfer window and start of the new Premier League season saw it pushed further back.

However, Arsene Wenger recently insisted that talks would begin soon with both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, but according to The Mirror, there could be a problem.

It’s claimed that the former Udinese and Barcelona star wants an extra £35,000-a-week in order to renew, which would take him up to a package of £175,000-a-week.

Although he’s established himself as a key part of the Arsenal team since joining the club in 2014, it remains to be seen whether or not the club are willing to meet his reported demands.

Sanchez has scored 43 goals in 97 appearances for the Gunners, and helped them snatch a point away at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Provided he can continue to score decisive goals and play a fundamental role in Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware this season, then perhaps there can be no argument that he deserves the wage increase he is said to be seeking.

Further, Ozil will also likely be looking for improved terms, and time will tell as to whether or not the creative duo will be at the Emirates for many more years to come with Arsenal needing to offer more lucrative deals.
