The Armenian international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been left out of Manchester United’s Europa League squad which takes on Feyenood on Thursday.

Mkhitaryan was taken off after just 45 minutes during Manchester United’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of their rivals Manchester City.

The former Borussia Dortmund man has been left behind in Manchester and will not travel to the Netherlands.

United boss Jose Mourinho has decided to give Wayne Rooney a rest while Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia have been left behind.

The Red Devils will be hoping to return to winning ways following their 2-1 defeat to City on Saturday. Mourinho is expected to give the likes of Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Tim Fosu-Mensah a chance to prove themselves.

Mkhitaryan joined United from the Bundelsiga champions Dortmund over the summer for £26.3 million according to SkySports.

Mourinho’s side take on Watford FC in the Premier League this weekend.
