Barcelona defeated Celtic 7-0 in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night, and the BT Sport panel have sung the praises of the club’s attacking trident.
As Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar continue to torment defences in Spain and in Europe, Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand, Ian Wright and John Hartson have all agreed that they’re the best attacking trio ever.
All three Barca stars were on the scoresheet in the comprehensive win over Celtic, and it builds on some incredible goalscoring records that they now possess.
From Suarez scoring 59 goals in 65 La Liga games since his switch to the Catalan giants in 2014, to Neymar bagging 55 goals in 94 league appearances.
Meanwhile, Messi has 314 goals in 351 La Liga outings, while his hat-trick on Tuesday took his Champions League tally to 86 in 107 games.
Individually, and before Neymar and Suarez joined Barca, they were all already incredibly prolific. Put them together and they’ve been an absolute joy to watch.
Having missed out on the Champions League last season though, they will desperate to ensure that they add further trophies to the club cabinet this season with their form. Based on this week’s display and when they’re firing on cylinders, it will be difficult for any team to stop them.
