Late Arsene Wenger delays Arsenal press conference by 3.5 hours, but PR agent insists Theo Walcott was on time

Arsene Wenger had been due to hold today’s Arsenal press conference at 9am but it has since been delayed until 12.30pm.

Why? Because Wenger was late. After days of sun, London was struck by heavy rain this morning and it has caused chaos on the roads.

Theo Walcott earlier posted a photo of himself stuck in traffic.

However, his PR rep, Caroline McAteer, has since been in touch with CaughtOffside to insist that he was not late for work.

McAteer emailed CaughtOffside to protect the good name of Walcott after we published a story about the 27-year-old and Wenger being made late by the weather.

She told us that Theo “wasn’t late for training – stuck in traffic but still on time”.

Walcott has started all four of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season, but he missed Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with PSG in the Champions League because of a knee injury.

The injury is not thought to be serious though, and he could return as soon as Saturday when Arsenal visit Hull City.
