Jamie Carragher blasts ex-Chelsea player for comparing Jurgen Klopp to Brendan Rodgers

The SkySports pundit Jamie Carragher has slammed the TalkSport host and ex-Chelsea player Jason Cundy for comparing Jurgen Klopp to Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers who almost lead the Reds to Premier League glory now manages Celtic in Scotland and was replaced by Klopp last season.

During his show on TalkSport, Cundy stated (via Mirror) that little has changed defensively for Liverpool since the appointment of Klopp. Cundy went on to call the German tactician ‘Brendan Klopp.’

Carragher took objection to Cundy’s comments and phoned up to voice his oppinion. The former England international stated that Klopp is in a different league to Rodgers and that he won’t rule out Liverpool winning the league.

“You have wound me up again,” Carragher said.

“I think it’s unfair, I’m not having a go at Brendan Rodgers, but they are different types of managers and play different ways.

“You look at the CV Jurgen has got, what he has done in Germany. He has been to a Champions League final. There’s no doubt he is a top class manager.

“Listen, you can ask me if you think Liverpool are going to win the league, I’d probably say no.

“But if you look back at the year they went for the title under Brendan Rodgers it was a similar situation. Everybody thought they’d be going for the top four and that season they had no Europe. I think that is going to have a massive impact.”

Liverpool defeated Chelsea by a 2-1 scoreline on Friday night and host Hull City at Anfield in the Premier League next weekend. Meanwhile Chelsea are preparing to take on last seasons Premier League champions Leicester City in the League Cup.
