Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd in £80m transfer battle to sign La Liga top scorer

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be locked in a transfer battle to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.

The Daily Star claim that the Premier League foursome are ready to move for the Frenchman, who is the joint-topscorer in La Liga this season with four goals, after he parted company with his agent.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone has said that Griezmann may quit the Madrid club at the end of next season, according to Star Sport, who report that a bidding war could see offers reach £80m for the 25-year-old.

Of the English clubs mentioned, Arsenal are arguably the most in need of a top striker like Griezmann.

The Gunners are short of high-quality options upfront, unlike United, who have the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on their books.

City too have a wealth of attacking players to choose from, but the best clubs always strive to get better. And Griezmann would unquestionably improve Pep Guardiola’s squad, if not his first XI.
