Liverpool goalkeeper set to make debut against Derby County

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is set to make his debut in the League Cup against Derby County on Tuesday evening.

Karius joined the Reds from Bundesliga outfit Mainz over the summer transfer window but has been sidelined since the International Champions Cup against Chelsea in Pasadena last July.

The keeper has been used as an unused substitute in the Reds Premier League wins over Leicester City and Chelsea but has yet to make an appearance.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp did however, reveal today that Karius is ready to start against Derby at the iPro stadium.

Klopp also revealed in his pre-match press conference that he rates Karius very highly and that the keeper impressed him in Germany.

“In the moment when we signed him, you can imagine we thought ‘he’s not too bad’ and that’s how it is. He was a really, really, really strong Bundesliga goalkeeper,” Klopp was quoted as saying.

The Reds will take on Hull City in the Premier League following the League Cup clash but Klopp has yet to decide who he will start for the game.
