New Dele Alli wage: Eric Dier on 27% more than Tottenham teammate despite wonderkid doubling weekly pay packet

Posted by

Dele Alli this morning signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur which will apparently see the 20-year-old’s weekly wage double to nearly £55,000.

That is according to the London Evening Standard, while The Sun reported last week that fellow Spurs midfielder Eric Dier was now on around £70,000 a week, having also recently penned fresh terms.

Based on these admittedly rough figures, Dier is now earning 27% more than Alli.

Dier and Alli are close friends off the pitch, but the latter may be wondering why he is valued lower than his bromantic pal.

It could be based on experience, with Dier having played 70 Premier League games, compared to Alli’s 38.

However, Alli – with 13 – has one more England cap than Dier, despite being two years his junior.

Putting the wage gap between Tottenham’s two English midfield maestros to one side, Spurs have unquestionably done very well to get these two to commit their futures to the club.

And, in truth, £55,000 and £70,000 appears to be good value in today’s market, considering the Daily Mail are claiming that Leicester City are paying Danny Drinkwater £90,000 every seven days.
