Thibaut Courtois could be forced to push for Chelsea exit amid Real Madrid interest in rival shot-stopper

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could push for a move to Real Madrid after it was reported that the Spanish giants are still looking at David De Gea.

The Belgian international revealed last week that he would delay signing a contract extension with Chelsea as he still would like a return to Spain at some stage in his career.

As he lets his contract run down, that will obviously see his value drop, and so if he doesn’t wish to sign a new deal, then Chelsea may well be forced to consider a sale before too long in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

With Real Madrid sending him a fax wishing him a speedy recovery after he suffered a knee injury last season, as he noted in an interview with Marca, a move to the Bernabeu has been talked about again this past week.

According to the Evening Standard, that talk is about to get louder as it’s claimed that Real’s interest in De Gea could force Courtois into a position where he has to think about a return to La Liga sooner rather than later to avoid missing out to the Spaniard.

Given De Gea’s age and ability, should he join Los Blancos in the near future, he’ll likely establish himself as the number one choice between the posts for years to come.

In turn, Courtois would miss the window of opportunity, and so the time may soon come where he has to make the decision that he wants to join Los Blancos before it’s too late which would undoubtedly be a massive blow for Chelsea and Antonio Conte if they were to lose him any time soon.
