Man United transfer news: Claudio Ranieri reminds Red Devils that star midfielder recently signed new contract

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has stated that he is surprised following reports linking his star playmaker Danny Drinkwater with a move to Manchester United, according to the Daily Star.

The experinced Italian tactician has stated that he did not expect Manchester United transfer news to be circulating just 22 days after the summer window closed.

Ranieri went onto remind United that Drinkwater only recently signed a contract extension at the King Power stadium.

“I am very, very surprised because often it happens one month before the market opens – not now. He signed a new contract and everything is normal,” Ranieri was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“But it is good. For us it is good, for him it is good. It is good when I have players who a lot of big teams want. That means we are working very well.”

The Sun recently linked United with a move for Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater. Per the source, Drinkwater is a £30 million transfer target for Jose Mourinho who is keen on strengthening his midfield following a shaky start to the season.

The England international left United four-years ago after joining the club aged nine, however, Drinkwater never made an appearance for the Red Devils during his time there.
