Man United supporters immediately took to Twitter on Saturday after it was confirmed that Jose Mourinho had dropped Wayne Rooney from the starting line-up.
The 30-year-old has attracted significant criticism in recent weeks due to his poor performances for the Red Devils, with many calling for him to be taken out of the side.
Mourinho had stuck by him regardless, but evidently even he has now admitted that a change is required as it remains to be seen whether or not it’s temporary moving forward.
Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard will be tasked with supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Leicester City, and based on the reactions below, it seems as though taking Rooney out of the line-up is a popular decision.
United bounced back from losing three games in eight days with a win in the EFL Cup in midweek, but the pressure is still on at Old Trafford to get their Premier League campaign back on track.

Maybe that’s what it will take Rooney being benched to give him that arse kicking he’s needed for so long.

We won’t suddenly be amazing without Rooney. But I just hope jose gives it time for team to gel without him.
