‘Next Yaya Toure’ was watched by Arsenal scouts confirms 19-year-old’s agent

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie, although they aren’t alone as several others are interested in him too.

The 19-year-old has been labelled the ‘next Yaya Toure’ by many due to the similarities in their respective games, and having impressed for Atalanta so far this season with four goals in three Serie A appearances, he’s quickly gaining more and more interest.

According to Goal.com, his agent has now confirmed that the Gunners sent scouts to watch him up close in action against Palermo on Wednesday.

“They [Arsenal] were here in Italy to watch him.

“Arsenal are a good team but there are a lot of teams interested in him so they’re not the only possible destination.”

It’s added in the report that Serie A champions Juventus are also monitoring his progress, while Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in the youngster.

In turn, if Arsenal did indeed send scouts to watch the talented midfielder, then they will likely have to act sooner rather than later to sign him up ahead of the growing number of clubs ready to provide competition.

Arsene Wenger has long been criticised for not adding a commanding box-to-box midfielder to his starting line-up of the ilk of Patrick Vieira, and although Kessie has a long way to go before justifying comparisons to Toure and even the former Gunners hero, he will hope to continue to develop in the coming months in Italy.
