Manchester United scored three goals from corner kicks during their 4-1 victory over the reigning Premier League champions Leicester City on Saturday.
Mata has revealed the success behind United’s corner routines is simply down to Jose Mourinho signing taller players over the summer.
United’s summer signings Paul Pogba , Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly are all comfortably over 6ft tall.
“We have always worked on corners,” Mata told MUTV.
“As a team we try to get the ball into the box for someone to put it in the back of the net. We tried it a few times last season but it didn’t work.
“Now we know we have strong people, tall people to head the ball in.”
Mata started for United for their win over Leicester and got himself on the scoresheet.
The Red Devils put an end to a two-game losing run in the Premier league which included defeats to rivals Manchester City and Watford FC last weekend.
