Arsenal transfer news: German international commits future to Wolfsburg – but only for this season

Arsenal transfer target Julian Draxler has committed his short-term future to his club VFL Wolfsburg, according to the Mirror.

Per-the-source, Arsenal manager Arsense Wenger is a long term admirer of the Germany internation and was keen on a summer move.

The report goes onto state that Draxler wanted out over the Summer but was denied permission to leave by the Bundesliga giants.

However, speaking at a fan event on Sunday, Draxler stated that he is fully committed to his current club, and will not be looking to leave the Wolfsburg in January.

“There will probably be speculation again in January, but I won’t be the one to start them,”  Draxler was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“My head is fully focused. I play towards the summer, trying to help the club.”

Draxler joined Wolfsburg from rivals Schalke 04 for £25 million back in 2015. The Germany international and scored nine goals in 34 games appearances for Wolfsburg last season.

Arsenal take on FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening. The Gunners will be in high spirits following their 3-0 victory over rivals Chelsea on Saturday.
