Arsenal summer signing Granit Xhaka has reached out to his teammates and fans who wished him a happy birthday.

The Switzerland international turned 24 on Tuesday and is expected to start for the Gunners when they take on FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League.

Xhaka shared a picture of himself on his Instagram page along with the caption, “Dear Fans and Friends. Thank you all for your wishes for my birthday. You have made my day.”

The 24-year-old came on for an injured Francis Coquelin during Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend. The powerful midfielder has also scored two stunning long-range goals since making the move to Arsenal from Borussia Mönchengladbach over the summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is set to field Xhaka alongside Santi Cazorla in midfield as Arsenal search for their first Champions League win of the season. Wenger’s side came away from Paris with a point following a 1-1 draw with PSG a fortnight ago.

Arsenal take on Burnley FC in the Premier League this weekend.
