Confirmed Manchester United starting line-up: Rooney remains on bench for Stoke City clash

Manchester United take on Stoke City at Old Trafford on Sunday, and Jose Mourinho has named an unchanged line-up from their last Premier League outing.

After a nightmare spell last month which saw the Red Devils lose three games in just eight days in all competitions, Jose Mourinho has got a positive reaction out of his men as they have now recorded three consecutive wins.

The nature of their first-half display against Leicester City last weekend drew plenty of praise as they scored in quick succession to see off their opponents, and that has arguably tipped the balance in terms of Mourinho’s decision to stick with the same side.

United weren’t particularly convincing in their 1-0 win over Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League in midweek, and so the Portuguese tactician will hope for a much-improved display against the Potters with the line-up below starting the game.

Wayne Rooney remains on the bench for the third consecutive game, despite playing a somewhat fortunate role in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s winning goal on Thursday night.

It will be a disappointment for the 30-year-old to be left out again, but he’ll hope to have a positive impact off the bench if given the opportunity.

As for Stoke, they also remained unchanged from their last Premier League match, with BT Sport noting in the tweet below that forward Marko Arnautovic is set to reach an impressive landmark by making his 100th Premier League appearance.
