Chelsea team news: Victor Moses is ‘incredible’ says Antonio Conte

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has heaped praise on the Nigeria international Victor Moses.

Moses was a surprise inclusion in Conte’s squad after spending last season out on load at West Ham United. However, Conte seems to have found a place for the former Wigan man, at wing-back.

Conte sprung a surprise last weekend when he deployed his favoured 3-5-2 formation. Moses was selected as a right-wing-back, and the former Juventus boss liked what he saw.

“Moses played an incredible game in defensive and offensive situations,” Conte was quoted as saying by SkySports.

“It is fantastic because he is working very hard. He deserved to play and he showed me that my choice was right.

“Pedro can also play in the same way to give you the opportunity to exploit one-v-one.”

However, Conte was less impressed by Chelsea’s summer signing Marcos Alonso who played on the opposite flank.

“Alonso played in this role at Fiorentina,” Conte added. “This was his first Premier League start [for Chelsea], but in the same way as the other players he must work. He played a good game but he can improve.”

Chelsea returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Hull City.

The Blues had got off to a perfect start to the season with three wins in their opening three games however, Conte’s side have managed just two victories in their last six games.

Chelsea take on the reigning Premier League champions Leicester City on October 15.
