Barcelona must tie up youngster before Manchester United bid

Sports stats site Squawka published a gallery today purporting to feature the buyout clauses of every Barcelona player. This is probably fairly accurate – all clubs in Spain are required to include a buyout clause in a players contract.

Among the astonishing high figures for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez and co, there are a few surprisingly low clauses.

One of these is Sergi Roberto, the central midfielder who has been reinvented in the last year as a fullback. His buyout clause is just €30m. When you consider how much teams are willing to pay for a top player these days, that’s a very low figure.

With Branislav Ivanovic looking like he’s finally been ousted from Chelsea’s first team for good and Jose Mourinho not looking content with a choice between Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian at rightback, there’s no doubt that there are Premier League teams who need and could afford Sergi Roberto.

Whether the player would want to leave the most successful club in the world is another question.
