Chelsea and Man City in transfer battle for in-demand Bundesliga hotshot

Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly set to lock horns over the signing of Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but both clubs could be left disappointed.

The Gabon international scored a stunning 39 goals in 49 appearances last season, and has continued his fine form so far this year with seven goals in as many games.

In turn, it’s no real surprise to see various clubs from around Europe paired with an interest with Don Balon reporting that both Chelsea and City are keen on the prolific striker.

It’s claimed that Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of Aubameyang, while Antonio Conte is eager to add another world-class forward to his squad and the man in question certainly fits the bill.

Nevertheless, it’s claimed that Aubameyang still prefers a move to Real Madrid, something that he has reiterated on several occasions previously, and he will continue to hope that he can seal a move to the Bernabeu eventually.

However, the only issue with that idea is that Real still have Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata at the club, and so there doesn’t appear to be an immediate requirement to add another striker to Zinedine Zidane’s squad.

As a result, it could leave Chelsea or City in a more favourable position if they act quickly, although Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel will hope to keep hold of his star forward and will be desperate to see him continue to fire the club towards further success this season and beyond.
