England team news: Man Utd star Wayne Rooney trains with team amid reports that he will be dropped

The BBC have reported that Wayne Rooney will be dropped by Gareth Southgate for the England national team clash against Slovenia in the third of their World Cup qualification group stages games.

Per the source, unless there is a last minute injury and Southgate is forced to draft Rooney as a replacement the Manchester United man will not be included in the starting line-up.

Southgate is expected to go on the record regarding his decision in his press conference in Slovenia at 18:30 BST on Monday.

Rooney was booed by sections of the fans at Wembley during the 2-0 win over Malta at the weekend, however, Southgate, his teammates and many pundits came out in defence of the England veteran.

The 30-year-old has however, been spotted training with the first team despite the reports that he has been dropped and even if he does not start he is likely to be included on the bench.

Southgate may still have plans for Rooney considering the latest video shared by The Telegraph of England training includes Rooney.
