Man City’s tough test could see Arsenal or Tottenham top the table

The teams which will be true title contenders are emerging from the Premier League pack, and this weekend will see another hurdle for Manchester City to clear if they want to maintain their lead.

Pep Guardiola’s side were demolishing everything in their path until last week, chaining wins against Sunderland, Stoke, West Ham, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Swansea to sit top of the league with a perfect record. However a comprehensive defeat by Tottenham has upset the ship a bit.

City will still be favourites for their game at home against Everton on Saturday, but you couldn’t rule out a draw or defeat. Ronald Koeman’s side are in good form themselves, and look to be the kind of side that will take points off title challengers all year. While they may not yet have the depth or the consistency to fight for the title themselves, the Toffees will give City a strong test; and with Arsenal and Tottenham both enjoying easy fixtures against Swansea and WBA respectively, there’s a very good chance we’ll go into Sunday with a North London side top of the table.
